Cornerstone asked the Leakers to make a mixtape for the month of May. Of course they wouldn't just come out with any ordinary mixtape for Cornerstone, they threw in a few exclusives, like "1 For The Money" by Nipsey Hussle. so because youtube is blocked at work (whatabust!!!) i had to wait to watch this video. the anticipation was killin' me cuz i read all over the social networks that this video was dope!
now i envisioned what the video would look like: lupe in a beautiful city, beamin'. well i was so wrong but hey, i'm not a video director & i liked this idea much better lol.
yeah, it was simple with a simple backround & kids with hand made props but the visuals created by the props & lightin' is dooope!


this video also has me HYPED because i will be at the Steppin' LASERS tour when he hits the House Of Blues on Sunset. i've had the honor to watch this man a couple years ago while he was on the Glow In The Dark tour & i must say his presence & his energy was CRAZY!!!

some of my favorite songs are; Don't Forget the Swisher ft. DOM Kennedy, cARTer & Chip The Ripper - havin' so many people rap on one song can be a bit much but everyone did their thing on this one (my favorite had to be Like's verse though).
Overcome - the thing i love about Pac Div is how we can all relate to their songs even if you're not a young black male. This song is a perfect example of that.
Here We Go - this beat alone, i LOVE! i remember listenin' to it at the end of For You off of Church League Champions & tellin' Mikee i wish they used that beat to a song. i guess my wish came true & addin' Pac at the end was truly genius.

so with a favorite comes least favorites right?! On Off Switch - WHY?!?!?! if you follow these guys, you should already know they have a song, Off & On Switch featurin' DOM minus BeYoung. (you can find that song on DOM's Best After Bobby project) & although on this one, there is a solid verse from BeYoung & no DOM, i did't like this mix! Off & On Switch happens to be one of my FAVORITE song....EVER but i can't say the same for this one!

now i know imma sound like some type of "hater" & i don't wanna take anythin' from this one because i think lyrically, their on point & Swiff D (producer) is dope but i enjoyed Church League Champions more, i'm just sayin'. i'm still lookin' forward to Grown Kids Syndrome. i know these boys have a few tricks up their sleeves!

so i first heard about G.o.D Jewels through Mikee when we first listened to "LA To Chicago" featurin' DOM Kennedy.
they took the classic Sade's Smooth Operator & made their own version which i happen to like.
i've been followin' him on Twitter & his #greatnessopendoors tweets has got me hyped to see what he's bringin' out.

yesterday, he premiered his video for his first single & i watched this video over & over AND over again.
i LOVE the creativity, the concept, the family pictures, the scenery of Chicago. I LOVE IT ALL!

so i've never really listened C-San but this song i enjoyed. & having Kent Jamez of Overdoz on the chorus is a nice look.
but what really caught my attention was the artwork that came with the song. i love watchin' people be creative with music & this is pure comedy!

Hugh Hefner Saves Hollywood Sign Last Minute

It may not seem like a big deal for the ones who are able to see that sign at least once a week, but it should. What would "Tinsel Town" be if the HOLLYWOOD sign was not there to greet us?

"The soft-porn magnate stepped in at the last minute with a $900,000 (£580,000; 670,000 euros) donation to stop the site being developed.

The sign is owned by the city, but the property around it belongs to a group of Chicago-based investors.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger described the news as 'the Hollywood ending we hoped for'.

Governor Schwarzenegger said Mr Hefner's donation and a $500,000 matching grant brought to an end a $12.5m fundraising campaign.

'Hollywood's Eiffel Tower'

It means 138 acres around the hillside sign will be protected from developers, who wanted to turn the land into high-price housing estates.

'It's a symbol of dreams and opportunity,' Gov Schwarzenegger said.

The investors had planned to sell the land to developers, but agreed to sell to the trust for $12.5m if the money could be raised.

Mr Hefner, who calls the sign 'Hollywood's Eiffel Tower', said: 'My childhood dreams and fantasies came from the movies, and the images created in Hollywood had a major influence on my life and Playboy.'

Donations came from all 50 US states, 10 countries and celebrities, including actor Tom Hanks and director Steven Spielberg.

In February, the sign was draped with a banner which read 'Save the Peak', to raise awareness of the campaign.

The Hollywood sign itself, which is set high up in the hills, was initially created in 1923 as an advert for a real estate development called Hollywoodland.'

Erika David has been doing her youtube thing for what seems to be forever! Well, in actuality, a few years. I first got hooked when I watched her sing "Bed" by J. Holiday. She did her own on the first verse, which i thought was the hottest thing when I first saw the video. She's on the climb to where she needs to be. Starting by singing songs in her room to performing in front of crowds and even making her own music video. I, along with many other subscribers on youtube, have seen her grow muscially. Can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

this is strictly MY throwback :) i la-la-la-loved this show when i was growing up. Let me first start off by saying shouts to Stevie Crooks for putting me up on Marz LoveJoy. Where do I begin with this talented chick!? I checked to see if she had a music myspace (cuz music myspace is the answer to EVERYTHING for me lol), but nope. Nada. So i went onto Marz LoveJoy's twitter account to see where it would lead me. It lead me to the right spot. She has a youtube account that she started up about 6 months ago. Her account is FULL of rhymes, proving she's not just another pretty face in the crowd. Her rhymes can speak for her, she goes hard! Honestly, I've been waiting for a girl on the come up to prove that the fellas ain't the only ones to be fucking with. Truthful shit, I feel that Marz LoveJoy is the one to put the ladies out there, to rep and show the fellas that a girl can do exactly what they do... Maybe even better =X After watching her youtube videos, #nohomo or anything lol, but she's my new girl crush hahaha Not only is she cute, but she HAS BARS! i don't know whether I should say this, but she reminds of a Left Eye, without the "bubblegum-ness"/"pop-ness" that came with the whole TLC thing. (*sidenote: i still love me some TLC. From "what about your friends" to "creep" haha) LoveJoy is different. She is DEFINITELY NOT a nicki minaj. If nicki and lovejoy were each given 16 bars.... I don't think Minaj could fuck with LoveJoy on some real shit lol I would give you more info about who Marz LoveJoy is, but she can do it herself. Check this out:

So while my sister took a listen to just.n.credible's mix, I took a listen to sourmilk's mix. I love how he throws in the saying "hard body karate" in the beginning and end of it. Then about 19 minutes into the mix, he had me wanting to go to the Dub Club this Wednesday haha It truly is a mix of new and old, from Bobby Brown "Don't Be Cruel" to a remix/cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic". I'm hoping for him to put out a tracklist 'cuz i HATE tryna figure who sang what lol. I was listening to this mix and my dad happened to walk by toward the end of Milk's mix. My dad really started to listen. I was like "What's up dad?" Then he said "Nothing. Song's familiar. I used to dance to it back in high school." Like really dad!? LOL Mr. SourMilk, you truly appeal to the masses haha shouts to you!

Johnny Polygon on The TakeOver w/ the L.A. Leakers

All frontin' aside, I really don't know much about Johnny Polygon. I first heard his name from a nice young lady by the name of Janice a few weeks ago. Then I noticed he had a show with the 87 Stick Up Kids last Thursday. Before that, he was on The TakeOver with the Leakers last Wednesday. He freestyled over the Black Eyed Peas "Imma Be" on the show and then i listened to the freestyle again when it was put up on youtube. I have to admit, shit is knockin'... So with the question "who is Johnny Polygon?" on my mind, the next thing i did was check to see if he had a music myspace. Check Johnny Polygon's Myspace. From reading his myspace, it tells me he's originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, then headed west to expand his music career. Prior to moving, he did his thing with the underground midwest scene, releasing a few albums. I listened to a few songs he has up on his myspace and a song that had me dancing in my room while getting ready was "Do You Love Me". Soon after i downloaded his latest mixtape Rebel with Applause (worked with DJ Green Lantern) that came out February 2010. The tracks are pretty good and it's a different kind of hip hop. A song that stood out to me, maybe just cuz i'm a BIG Saved By The Bell fan, was "That's What Girls Do". Download Rebel with Applause if you haven't done so already.
