50/50 Trailer

I saw an article about this movie on yahoo earlier this month and it really caught attention. It's a dramedy about a man named Adam who finds out he has cancer. The movie journeys through his time of dealing with it. And it helps that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's in it, so you know I'm going out to watch this when it comes out September 30, 2011.

Interesting fact, it's based on a true story and Seth Rogen plays himself.

Blink 182 - Up All Night (Music Video)

Last month Blink 182 released their first single, "Up All Night" off their 6th studio album, Neighborhoods which is scheduled to drop September 27, 2011. They now have a music video to go along with the song and I must say, it's like they never went on hiatus. Check it out below.

Eminem & Royce da 5'9" ft. Bruno Mars - "Lighters" (Video)

"...but from now on I’m refusing to ever give up
The only thing I ever gave up is using. No more excuses..."
This song takes on a more inspirational direction that still has the serious tone in it. I love how the songs kind of contrasts from Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" (Bad Meets Evil) being in your face to Bruno Mars' melodic voice almost calming your mood down. The video's influential also.

Throwback Thursday

After much delay of Throwback Thursday, I present you this week's T.T: RUGRATS (that was the best video I could find)!

ANND for a bonus T.T, someone decided to do the Rugrats Theme on Mario Paint Composer. I used to attempt to write the Rugrats Theme on it also, but it never sounded anything close to this.

¡¡¡BONUS!!! Mya & Blackstreet's single from Rugrats: The Movie (if you couldn't tell, Rugrats was my ish when I was growing up).

ANNND since we're on this whole Rugrats high, I barely found out about this deal with "The REAL Truth on The Rugrats". I think it's been going on the internet for a while, so if you were behind the loop like me, you can read the "truth" below:

“The Rugrats really were a figment of Angelica’s Imagination.

Chucky died a long time ago along with this mother, that’s why Chaz is a nervous wreck all the time.

Tommy was a stillborn, that’s why Stu is constantly in the basement making toys for the son who never had a chance to live.

The DeVilles had an abortion, Angelica couldn't figure whether it would be a boy or a girl thus creating the twins”

I decided to research it and I found out a little more information with further proves this theory as it ties down ‘All Grown Up’

“As for “All Grown Up” Angelica was a bipolar schizophrenic who, as a teenager became addicted to various Narcotics, bringing her back to her childhood and thus her creations she obsessed over, because of time lapse between the present and the last time she interacted with her creations, she made them older, Angelica was constantly taking hits of acid, so she would never have to live without her creations who were her only company, in a judgemental world

Angelica’s mom actually died of a heroine overdose, Angelica was schizophrenic/bipolar because she was a crack baby, additionally Drew in his depression married a gold digging whore, that Angelica idolized because she fooled herself into thinking it was her real mom, but always had a concept of her mom, Cynthia, and took a barbie doll, and made it after her mom’s image, wearing an unwashed orange dress, and having jacked up hair, which is why she was so attached to it, later in life she followed in her mom footsteps w/ drugs and everything, dieing of overdose at age 13 when All Grown Up! was “canceled”

The only rugrat not to be fictional however, was unborn Tommy’s brother Dil, however Angelica didn't know the difference between Dil and her creations, Dil didn't follow her commands, after endless crying and a refusal to disappear like the others did when angelica was angry with them, she hit him. And she hit him, screaming a screeching tune, Stu ran in and pulled his niece off of his only child, but it was too late, he had a brain hemorrhage, which resulted in a deformation, as he grew up his damage only became more evident, by the time he was 9 in All Grown Up! He lived as an outcast, being ridiculed for his weirdness, and retardation, the immense guilt over this is what led to her drug use and is what led Angelica to un-create the rugrats briefly, until her experience w/ hallucinogenics.

On a trip to Paris to find love, Chaz married a hooker named Kira (He was actually going to marry a different hooker, but she just wanted him for his money), who had a daughter named Kimi that was torn from her because she was a cocaine addict (Angelica imagined her from Kira’s stories), he lost his mind after the death of his wife and was in denial that she was ever prostitute, upon return to America, Chaz and Kira married and she got her green card, it was actually a really happy/romantic story, Kira continually struggled with addiction, but was relatively happy w/ her life, and Chaz

Suzie was actually Angelica’s only friend, who entertained the thought of Angelica’s creations, for her, She later became a psychologist and teamed up w/ Nickelodeon to make the Rugrats! When Angelica died of drug overdose, she helped arrange her funeral, Angelica’s death was sad, because of her addiction, she was expelled from society, which lead to a break with reality, and her eventual death, she spent the last days of her life in the back of the school cafeteria, imagining friends around her, and playing with the lives of her creations.”

The History of Rap part 2 with Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake

Last year back in September, Justin Timberlake was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's talk show and they decided to take us through the History of Rap (fyi: this was the best I could find). Last night JT guested and they decided to give us a Part 2 to the history of rap. Love these guys, so I loved this skit!

Wiz Khalifa x Curren$y x Big Sean - "O.T.T.R."

So Wiz and Curren$y have collaborated before and Big Sean and Wiz are on tour together right now. It wouldn't be right for these '10 XXL Freshmen/weed smoking junkies to have never made a single together... but lucky for us, they did and this is why I'm writing this blog! ANYwhoooooo, click here for more info.

Wale ft. J. Cole - Bad Girls Club

Aside from being a perfect 10, I don't think I'm the kind of girl Wale and J. Cole are talking about in this new single lol.. But the song's not too bad. If you want to know more about it, check it out here.

Blink 182 - Up All Night

Here's a new single from Blink 182, their first since 8 years ago. This is off their upcoming LP ,which is yet to have a title due in the fall. KROQ, Linkin Park, and Blink 182 (aside from *NSYNC, obiviously) pretty much summed up what I listened to back in middle school, so it's pretty exciting to hear this new song...

Chingaling's Birthday Wishlist

I don't usually make a wishlist for my birthday, but turning 22 has no significance so I might as well make it a little interesting by making this.. Plus it's always fun to make one! Majority are practical and a few, well, a girl can always dream! ;)

I grew up watching these three movies over and over and over again when everyone owned the black cable box and got PPV for "free", lol, and not once did I get sick of it. And if anyone really knows me, I love movies!...

Nail art. I love it; simple as that. I love doing my nails. I save money doing my own nails and I'd be happy to say if I hated how my nails turned out, at least I know I made the mistake and didn't have to pay $25 minimum for someone else to mess it up...

I used to think Toms were really ugly pairs of shoes... not until I bought the Olive Green pair last year. I can't stress enough how effing comfortable they are and what a great cause it is when you buy one...

A lady can never have enough pair of shoes... Just ask Imelda Marcos, lol. Unlike other chicks, though, I don't own many heels because I always felt like I couldn't walk in them, but my sister reassured me I could lol. So with that, I think a pair of nude pumps would be a perfect addition to my closet!...

Do I REALLY need to explain why I want this on DVD? I'm just saying...

A trip to Disneyland would be one of the best presents (on any day) ever because A) I haven't gone in about a year and some months and B) I love Disneyland!...

Someone patient and cute taught me the basics of skateboarding and now I want to really know how to do it so I can use it at school and go from point A to point B without having to speed walk my way every time.

(Onto the wishful thinking "wishlist" haha)

I'm not really into the whole getting a designer bag (unless I get to use my mom's that she's had) for myself, but if there was one that I wanted to get ever, it would definitely be the classic Chanel handbag with the chain strap. So classy, refined, and elegant...
I told you a girl can dream! xD

Luke Christopher feat. Asher Roth - Roof Tops

Where do I begin with this kid!?! He's just that... a kid. He's only 17, yet has soooo much potential. I first heard about Luke Christopher late last year, when he was still wanting to go by a different name. He comes from the nice part of the Valley, where he produces & writes his own music. He raps and sings. Luke's a super talented fella that you should keep an eye and ear out for. Want to learn more about him? Click here. For now check out his video featuring Asher Roth, "Roof Tops".

Check out his other videos here.

Gabe effin' Bondoc...

... is at it again! I'm honestly never disappointed when Gabe Bondoc posts new youtube videos. His voice is amazing and his lyrics are always on point when it comes to giving chills up and down a girl's spine. First video is an orginial and the second is a cover of Lupe Fiasco's "Outta My Head" feat. Trey Songz. His version has a nice, acoustic twist... Very pleasing to the ears *sighs* Ahhhh :)

Are you "Fallin'"?

Here's Pac Div latest video for "Fallin'", off of MANIA! Not only are the boys nice to look at in this video, but the girls are def some eye candy. Like's chick in the video is DEF a cutie! #justmyopinion

Dom Kennedy - Designer Sh*t

Check Dom's latest visuals for The Original Dom Kennedy. Video not so great. I happen to like "CDC" better and is one of my faves off that project.

Kendrick Lamar - "HiiiPOWER"

Section 80, Kendrick's soon to be released project, will feature this track on it. I can't wait for him to release another project 'cuz he is definitely a fave on this blog! Check out "HiiiPOWER"...

J. Cole - How High

Uummm, not too impressed. BUT before you take my word for it, take a listen for yourself.

87 Stick Up Kids - Car Keys & Rabbit's Feet

Can I just say AT freakin LAST???? lol.. I had been waiting forever for this album to come out. But leave it to me to wait a damn week to finally give it a listen -___- Like I mentioned before, they teamed up with Мишка for the exclusive release. I'm really impressed. Their music has grown from their previous EP, Out 4 Fame, yet they still stuck true to the 87 sound. If you don't believe me, then check it out for yourself. I guarentee you'll like at LEAST 2 out of the 10 songs off their FREE (yes, FREE) album!

Fall For Your Type cover by Erika David

Yuuup, Erika David is my girl crush and I'm not afraid to admit it! lol Her voice is awesome and her style is untouchable. She covers Jaime Foxx's "Fall For Your Type" which I feel she does extremely well. She also shows off her little acting skills... not too shabby. Take a look!

Why I lost interest in...

... Wiz khalifa :|

I know it's been out for a while, but those of you that haven't seen it, take a look.

A freestyle should be just that... a freestyle off the top of your head. Not a rhyme written down on your iPhone or Blackberry *ahem*DRAKE*ahem* We should all hold a certain criteria to the "rappers" we take an interest to. And if they can't hold down a simple one minute freestyle, you might wanna think twice about calling them your favorite rapper.

Radical Magical

Haven't heard of Asher Roth x DJ Wreckineyez' Radical Magical yet? Then get to know it because it's a series of podcasts that they started about two weeks ago. Main point of these podcasts? Thrownin' some awesome music at us. Asher Roth says it right in the first podcast, "I'm a fan first and so is Wreckineyez, that's why we're here. We love hip hop music. We love good music." Same reason why the dix & chix started this blog. We love our share of good music and what else can we do than share it with you. Here are the first two Radical Magical podcasts... Be sure to come back to catch the others! :)

Look At Me Now (Cover by Karmin)

I came across this while procrastinating and LMAO!! This was one hell of a cover. You wouldn't expect this band (Karmin) to give Chris Brown's single a new kind of "je ne sai quoi" flavor to it. But they did. They delivered. And homegirl has a really nice voice.. If you head over to their page, you can view other videos of them covering songs like "I Need A Doctor" by Eminem, "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars, "What's My Name" by Drake (yes, I said Drake b/c I refuse to taint this blog with her name) or "Set Fire To The Rain" by Adele. Aside from obvious talent they have (don't lie to yourself, you know they're good), they have fun doing these covers so check them out!

BONUS: Because I REALLY liked their version.

Car Keys & Rabbit’s Feet Release; "Breaker, Breaker" [Video[

FINALLY!! The 87 Stick Up Kids announced their release of their album, Car Keys and Rabbit's Feet. They teamed up with Mishka and said they will release it May 3rd exclusively on their site for free! I have been waiting for this album for a while now, so I'm pretty excited. Also, they premiered their music video "Breaker, Breaker" on Mishka's site.
"Filmed in New York while we were in the city for CMJ last fall, the clip for Breaker Breaker, directed by our homie Justin DuBose, matches Ro BLVD’s ‘80s inspired 808 beats with gritty black and white footage of Nash and Deacon rapping in the subway. As the chorus kicks in, the video flips to color and Rockwell and Squish (and the rest of our NY army) join the crew to show you late night NYC through our bleary eyes. We had an amazing time shooting this bad boy guerrilla style and we feel like you can really see that in the look and the feel of video."
I love that SK87 and Ro Blvd. teamed up. This song is a little less "party rap", but it definitely still has their vibe. Check it out below!

Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song [VIdeo]

I love this little short man. Anyway, this video was pretty much a carefree, "lazy" video, that made sense and didn't at the same time (if that makes sense lol). With Poreotics in the monkey masks, they give us a few choreography that goes seamlessly to the song.

Throwback Thursday

... Because I heard this song on the radio after not hearing it for years!!!

Nick Ferrer Presents Movie: The Mixtape

I was definitely impressed with the intro to this mixtape. After the introduction, you immediately get the feel of what kind of music he was about to play throughout it. With almost an hour of dance, techno, and remixes like people from LMFAO to Cee-Lo Green to Britney Spears, this mix will appeal to anyone and everyone. This is one to play to get ready for a night out or even during finals week to stay up. His first mixtape was a hit for me, and this one is another homerun. Download: Movie: The Mixtape

Pac Div - Anti-Freeze (music video)

Check out Pac Div's latest video to their song "Anti-Freeze".

((To my chix: I squealed a little inside X) LMAO!))

Speaking of...

Thurzday, you may be wondering "Hey! What about Y-O?" Last week, Yonas went to twitter to explain why he wasn't at Paid Dues when it was originally planned that U-N-I was going to perform... This tweet explains it all.

Speaking on behalf of the Chix of this blog, we were all pretty saddened by it. They were kind of the reason why we made the blog... But all we can say is we hope for the best for each of them and hopefully one day (in a perfect world), they'll be U-N-I once again.

Thurzday - "Los Angeles" Wheatpaste

The ’87 Stick Up Kids (ft. Amanda Blank and Micah James) x Afrojack – “Psycho Killer (Rad Omen Edit)”

So I knew who Amanda Blank was, but I never really listened to her music... All I can say is I love the boys in this song, but Amanda Blank KILLED them with her verse. I think I may have developed a new girl crush =X

Throwback Thursday #2

... Because I have been lagging it on Throwback Thursday and decided to add another one you all know featuring Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, & Warren G, aka 213.

Throwback Thursday

Today, I met up with my group mates who I have to do a presentation with for one of my classes. I don't know how it came up, but Nate Dogg's death was mentioned and all three of them had no idea who he was. I had to "sing" a couple lines from different songs he's been on -___-
So with that,I would like to dedicate this week's Throwback Thursday to Nate Dogg's legacy and I would like to dedicate this song to my group mates :)

RIP Nate Dogg

August 19,1969 - March 15, 2011

Last night Twitter was going crazy over whether or not Nate Dogg (real name Nathaniel D. Hale) really passed away. Unfortunately, it was true and hip hop and RnB lost a West Coast legend last night. Snoop Dogg tweeted last night "We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb. One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met."

He died of complications from multiple strokes at the age of 41. DixandChix send our condolences. Rest In Peace, Nate Dogg.

Response to the UCLA Racist B!tch

I just heard about this video about a UCLA student hoodrat make a VLog about Asian students earlier this morning. Can I say IGNORANT WHOREBAG!?!?! Below is the video if you've yet to see it.

This isn't the original because she removed it. FORtunately, it was too late and it bacame viral like one of the many STDs Alexandra has, and has been all over the internet. You would think this ignoramus would know better to not post something so racist like this online. If it was a joke, it'd be a different story, but her dumbass was serious about everything she said. Anyway, I found a couple responses to her VLog (which she is getting death threats for, btw). One is comedic by DavidSoComedy and the other one is a little more serious by swissersian. Both videos pretty much explain how the situation should be addressed.

Serious one:

Devi Dev & Terrace Martin – The Sex EP

Wow, wow, WOW! This "Sex EP", truly is that... SEX! Okay maybe not directly sex, but definitely the type of sexy music that leads to AMAZING sex. This is one EP for the love making playlist, and if you happened to give up sex for this Lenten season, I just suggest you to wait to listen to this EP with your significat other AFTER the 40 days and 40 nights. hahaha Fave track on here?? I say "In The Sheets", I love it! Def download this when you can.

Download The Sex EP

Lil B feat. Jean Grae & Phonte – Base For Your Face (prod. 9th Wonder)

I never-ever-ever-everrrrrrrr thought that I'd be posting any Lil' B track... and what happens??? Well, this post happened. I actually like this. Maybe 'cuz 9th produced it, but overall the whole song is real cool... #SWAG (<---I HAD to lol)

Listen to "Base For Your Face"

Omarion - Come N F*ck Wit Me

Ohhh worldstarhiphop... I thought about posting this like 10 times before I actually did. The last video was FAR from raunchy, so I guess I can post this one. Omarion's got the video hoe, I mean vixen, Rosa Acosta up in here... Uummm, DAYUMMMM! This is one of them SEXy videos you don't wanna be caught at work watching lol

Chris Brown ft. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne – Look at Me Now

Ohh the stuff you find on worldstarhiphop ... Other than the raunchy sh!t you'd find, here's a SiiiiiCK music video! Asher Roth - More Cowbell

Produced by Blended Babies, here's Asher Roth's latest joint "More Cowbell" inspired by Saturday Night Live's famous cowbell skit with Christopher Walken. It seems as if Asher's been laying low from the limelight, hopefully for good reasons. In this joint, he does mention why he's been laying low. I'm sure many of us are ready for a new album from him because I am. But for now, take this.

Listen to "More Cowbell"

Jhene Aiko feat. Miguel - Hoe

#DOPE!

I can't wait to hear what the rest of her project has for us. With just a few more days, .sailing soul(s). will be dropping on March 16th. When a girl knows exactly what she wants from a boy, she's usually termed a "hoe" and we all know that. This joint though is real cool, with her holding down what she wants from a boy. She ain't on that hoe sh!t!

listen to "Hoe"

Mickey Factz – HF: 4th Anniversary

Here is Mickey Factz re-release of Heaven's Fallout. If you haven't downloaded this already here's your chance to do so. It's a great album to have in your ipod. Click the album artwork to download it now :)

Mac Miller - Donald Trump

I love the energy this kid exudes. I personally haven't seen him perform live, but I would definitely want to soon. I like the little carefree images he's got goin'. This kid better not quit what he currently has and with him on XXL's Freshmen 2011, he can live it up.

Marz Lovejoy - Love Bullet Gun

I heart this girl! This Little Light of Mine is awesome and she definitely can hold her own like I've said before. Here are the latest visuals for "Love Bullet Gun" off This Little Light of Mine. Real cute.

XXL Freshmen 2011 Freestyles

Here are a couple of XXL's Freshmen 2011 doing a couple of bars to show you why they were chosen to be a part of 2011's Freshmen line up... Lil' B?? No comment :|

Wiz Khalifa - Roll Up

My favorite lanky ass, weed smokin', tatted up black boy failed me with this video. I hated it. Why? Not just cuz of the lil stupid blonde streak he had goin' on, but I felt he tried too hard to be SoCal. That's just my opinion. But it did help that the stunning Cassie was in the video.

Lil' Wayne feat. Corey Gunz- 6'7'

If you know me, you know how I feel about Lil' Wayne. This video was just all over the place. I totally get the concept of him using Inception, but other than that, the video was alright. Ohh and uhh, Corey Gunz in a suit wasn't bad eye candy :)

XXL 2011 Freshmen Roundtable Discussion

Uummm, why didn't anyone tell Lil' B to put on a fckin' shirt!? I'm just sayin'...

Up, up here we goooo...

"Doesn't matter where you wanna go, cuz I know you'll be right next to me"

Not one of my favorites from Erika David, but her verse on here is real cute... So is her fit!

This right here though, is definitely my fave. No matter how many times I listen to this song, I can't get sick of it. The video's real cool too. You get to see a lot of familiar faces, check who you can spot.

So, I can't leave you with an okay Erika David video... I'm leaving you with this one. She covers Chris Brown's "Yeah 3x". Liking her voice in this one way more than in "Rocketeer".

Seven Disney Sins

I was browsing along one of the blogs I visit and came across this interesting piece of work. A deviant artist named Chris Hill, used the Disney princesses (and Tinkerbell) to portray the 7 deadly sins. They all pretty much fit the character which made the artwork even more impressive. Check it out below! And if you like what you saw, check out his site. He even did one with the Disney girls as the 7 Virtues. (click to enlarge the photos)

Envy:((yeah, Tink was bitch))
Gluttony: ((she makes overeating look so dainty))
Greed:((love how he remembered the dinglehopper))
Lust: ((Prince Charming DID want to get in her pants right away, so...))
Sloth: ((again, making a sin look so delicate))
Vanity:((It's not her fault she was the most beautiful person in her great provincial town))
Wrath:((she was kind of stubborn, but still loved her!))

Throwback Thursday

Anybody remember this cereal from the 90s? I think they've been discontinued for some time, but I remember having this for breakfast during my elementary years...

87 Stick Up Kids - evenODDS

This is a single off their upcoming project, Car Keys & Rabbit's Feet, which I have been (im)PATIENTLY waiting for to drop ;). They grabbed the beat off Mark Ronson's new record and added their own flavor to it.. Impressed.

Download: evenODDS

Thurzday - Rodney King

Off his solo project, LA RIOT, Thurzday gives us this single "Rodney King" produced by one of DixandChix's favorite LA producer, Ro Blvd. You can't deny Thurzday and his lyrical abilities, so take a listen and like it!

Download: Rodney King

And if you're wondering if that's really Thurz in the picture, it is... Check this video out:

Ro Blvd - Spin ft. Micah James

This is another leak off Ro Blvd's Produc Placer 6: Shenanigans. This one features an artist one of the Chix's like, Mr. Micah James. Good beat, lyrics mean something. Take a listen.

Brunuo Mars ft. Damien Marley - "Liquor Store Blues"

So my baby boy, Bruno Mars, came out with a video to one of my favorite songs off his Doo-Wops & Hooligans album, "Liquor Store Blues". The video has him and Damien Marley singing about living day by day through a bottle of liquor with smoke surrounding them and psychedelic colors coming in and out throughout it all. With a song like this, it doesn't need super extravegant special effects or props to get their point across. I dig it. Check out the music video by clicking on the picture above.
