pussy prevails.

i've been a fan of Briana & Desi from Weekend Warriors for some time now. (personally, i have a girl crush on Miss De$i Dolla$, judge ME) i think the clothin' line is so empowerin' for women in a tasteful manner & not to mention the take no bullshit attitude they convey in their clothin'. they finally came out with their summer lookbook, Ashes To Ashes (inspired by Dia de Los Muertos) & re-launched their website which looks amazin'.
check out the rest of their Ashes to Ashes lookbook & previous lookbooks along with an online shop to pick up these dope shirts.

3 FINGERS UP!

Fashawn - Grizzly City 3

Working with DJ SKee, here's Fashawn's third installment of Grizzly City. On a couple tracks he features some of his Fresno natives, Grafik and Bravo. He also has Ron Artest featured of track number 7. I know a few of us have been waiting for Grizzly City 3 to come out, so here it is.

Throwback Thursday

This day in 1998, this song was on week 14 of being the number one single in the country. I was rooting for Monica only because she was prettier =X lol

U-N-I - "Special" (live)

Tuesday night at Blu Monkey, U-N-I performed a new song called "Special" ft. Charlie Wilson.

DJ Drewbyrd "Run To The Sun" Mix

DJ Drewbyrd came out with an end of the summer mixtape with 21 minutes of music from J*Davey to TiRon and Janelle Monae to Dom Kennedy. Originally this mixtape "was supposed to be a collaborative Summer Mixtape with some of my DJ friends, but some how we all got too busy and waited too long.." I'm glad he continued it. The mixtape fits perfectly for the end of the summer.
If you want to listen to it first, click here; trust me, though, after listening to it, you will definitely want to download it.

U-N-I - Black Sky (Music Video)

This music video just made the song even better than it already was. I swear these boys never cease to amaze me.

Directed by Jerome D, and starring playboy model, Felicia Gomez, the video shows us the fall of one relationship and the drama-ridden rise of another. Check it out for yourself. I'm POSITIVE you'll agree the video is REALLY good!

"Miss Me" - Drake ft. Lil' Wayne (Music Video)

Let me start off by saying at the :30 sec mark of the video, Drake's face is PRICELESS!

Drake's videos are progressively getting better. This video is 1000xs better than "Best I Ever Had" which was all pretty much a joke anyway. His outfits, on the other hand, are still on the ehh, side. WTF was the all denim outfit with the gray thermal and scarf? Too much, Drake.. Too much. Aside from his facial expressions and outfits, I give the video a 7 3/4 out of 10. The pyros, him watching the girl dance in the room, standing in the middle of an abandoned field, and Weezy's obvious absence (#freeweezy), it was all still a little common.

Fat Beats in LA & NYC closing

Source: boombox & thecafeterialine

Sad to say Fat Beats in LA & NYC are closing soon (NYC on Sept. 4 & LA on Sept. 18). Popular for holding in-store performances and meet and greets, an era for the hip hop world is coming to an end.

"Yet another legendary music retailer is preparing to shut its doors. Hip-hop
vinyl retailer/distributor Fat Beats announced the closing of its last two
retail stores in New York and Los Angeles today, shutting doors on a hip-hop
institution that championed independent music and culture for more than 16
years."

To read about how local artist, TiRon felt about the news click on "the cafeteria line" link above.

Power (Remix) - Kanye West feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz

It's better late than never. The song before the remix was already good, but the remix is in a category of itself. This song goes hooorrd! lol

Download the song here if you haven't already.

U-N-I on Fuel TV

As if you haven't heard, our fave duo, U-N-I, were on Fuel TV. If you didn't catch them, here's a clip of them performing "Land of The Kings". If you click on "info", you can also catch them performing a new song called, "Donkey Kong".

"2 Sports Cars" - Curt@!n$ feat. Dom Kennedy

Okay... I like the video, BUT i wish I had seen more sports cars... at least ONE sports car lol i don't think that four door is considered a sports car, just sayin'

Though I'd LOVE to hear what Jenbunnie has to say about this video. She may be Dom's biggest fan, but she seems to be his biggest critic at the same time :) Check the video for yourself :)

"Oh Yeah!" - Diggy feat. Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell

WOW! Just took a listen to this song comin' off of Diggy's mixtape, Airborne. I'm really feelin' it. I'm surprised with what he can do. Though I have to say, Lupe and Pharrell did upstage him on this song... Diggy can still hold his own. Can't wait to hear what else he has goin' on.

Listen to "Oh Yeah!"

G.O.O.D ASS Mixtape

Need a good ass mixtape in your life? Yeah, I thought you would :) Here's one featuring a grip of artists: Kanye West to Mr. Hudson, John Legend to Big Sean. You won't be upset with this download.

Alexander Spit - Until Next Summer

WOW! This album is HELLA cool! I remember first meeting Alexander Spit while he was working at the Hundreds shop on Rosewood late last year. We found out he was a Bay area native, but came out here to L.A. to open up even more doors. With music playing in the shop, my friends and I were like "who's that playing on the speakers?" He told us it was him. We were impressed. To be honest, I'd listen to his stuff every now and then, but since downloading his sophomore album, presented by The Hundreds, Until Next Summer, it's cool to say this cat's got a new main-stay fan. I'm REALLY liking the vibe of his album. Very dope hip hop coming from this kid, and if you take a listen for yourself, you can say the same. He produced every song on this album except for one. Kid's very talented, get up on Alexander Spit!

Download Until Next Summer

I'm addicted to your chocolate high...

i la-la-la-love this song! It's safe to say this was my secret jam early last year :) the lyrics are too sweet and both artists are great to listen to. Musiq Soulchild puts out awesome love songs and India Arie puts out great music to relax to, so putting these two together on a song just makes you wanna spend more time in bed with someone special ;) If you haven't heard this song, I should probably slap you, BUT i won't cuz i'm pretty nice lol Here's the music video for you...

Erika David - Un-Thinkable (Cover)

i love Erika David... is that too much to say? haha on some real sh!t, i think she's a TALENTED girl! i love watching youtube videos of her singing. Her voice is BOMB! In this youtube video, she's covering Alicia Keys' "Un-Thinkable". Erika David does a damn good job at covering this song. Take a listen to this talented girl!

K-OS - The Anchorman Mixtape

K-Os has been around since the early 2000's, putting out his debut album "Exit". He's been putting out albums every two or so years. Well now, he recently put out a mixtape that you can download.

Bruno Mars - Move On

(Shout to my friend Christian for sharing this with me)
I'm not sure where this song is from, but it's been out for a while and I just recently heard it. I'm in LOVE with his voice. A little pathetic for the dude on his part, but aside from thinking logically, I'm a hopeless romantic so this song just melts my heart.
You can download the song here.

Mike Posner - "Bow Chicka Wow Wow"

This song's off his debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, which is set to release this Tuesday August 10. I like Mike Posner. I think he's really talented - and well gingers have a soft spot in my heart, so I think he's really cute. lol - but this song just screams LAME! I'm not gonna base his debut album to this dud, but if they're all gonna sound anywhere close to that, I will be sincerely disappointed.. =/

Nick Ferrer - "I Got You For The Years To Come" Mixtape

This is DJ Nick Ferrer's first mixtape called "I Got You For Years To Come". I think he did a REALLY good job. I would have never guessed this was his first one.

It starts off straight into dance music (like La Roux, FM, and Kid Cudi w/ David Guetta) - that can get you pumped up for a night out - then transitions to hip hop (i.e. Jay-Z, Drake, and Nipsey Hussle) and goes into some classic tunes from Outkast, Naughty By Nature, and Bell Biv Devoe then back to dance music and respectfully ends with Drake's "Thank Me Now".

The mix lasts for about an hour and some minutes. Definitely something people can bump to in the car or at a party. Do yourself a favor and download it here. :)

Drake - What If I Kissed You [w/ tags]

"If we were a secret, how long could you keep it? Keep it to yourelf, don't tell nobody else"

Simple answer to that if he asked me! i'd keep it a secret for however long i could keep it as long as i had him! ;] haha jk In all honesty i didn't like the song at first, but it grew on to me. Supposedly, this song will be featured on his upcoming R&B mixtape.

Listen to "What If I Kissed You"

Fashawn - The Ecology / The Score

Here's the official video for "The Ecology" off of Fashawn's album, Boy Meets World. This is definitely one of the hardest songs to learn off of his album (trust, i've tried lol), yet it's one of my faves. Check the chill video taken on what seems to be the streets of his hometown.

Grafik - Dear Nikki

Apparently, Grafik has the hots for miss nicki minaj. check this latest track he did not too long ago, sampling her latest song out on the radio "Your Love".

Kanye West - "Power" (Music Video)

(The video premiered after tonight's episode of Jersey Shore.)

I was on my laptop when the video came on and right when it reeled me in and had me step away from my laptop, the video ended. WTF?! I was really getting into it and all you give me is about 2 minutes of the song, Kanye? T__T

Eminem - "Love The Way You Lie"

The video is seriously something intense, as Eminem would want to have it. Lost star, Dominic Monaghan, and sex symbol, Megan Fox, star in the video as a couple in an abusive relationship.

Sidenote: (Source justjared) Megan Fox donated the money she received from appearing in the music video to Soujourn House, "a shelter that provides abused women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives." Props to Mrs. Green for doing that!

Throwback Thursday

I was notorious for losing lots of pieces to any board game my sister and I received as birthday or Christmas presents when we were kids and this game was no exception. But even if I lost half of the pieces, it never stopped my sister and me from playing Pretty Pretty Princess... even if we played it wrong. xD

Shannon Brown signs two-year contract with Lakers

Yessir! Shannon Brown is back with the 2010 NBA Champs Lakers for two years. I'm happy about that. :)

Source: LA Times
Shannon Brown had suitors. Six of them or so. Some offered the free-agent guard more money than he might make if he returned to the Lakers. He thought about that.

But in the two years Brown had spent in purple and gold, he won two rings. He thought about that too. Eventually, the idea of three in a row was too much to pass up, and the guard agreed to a two-year contract worth about $4.6 million to stay with the Lakers, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Thursday.

"Obviously, the process took a while, but Shannon wanted to be here and they wanted him," Bartelstein said. "Shannon had a number of other opportunities out there, but he had been in L.A. for two years and they won two championships. The chance to go for a three-peat is very special to him."

The athletic, high-flying dunker averaged career highs in points (8.1), rebounds (2.3), assists (1.3) and minutes (20.7) last season. Brown, 24, had opted out of a contract that would have paid him $2.1 million next season, the second year of his previous deal with the team.

The Lakers like his potential and own his "early bird rights," meaning they could have paid him about $5.5 million in the first season of a new contract. But Bartelstein said Brown, whose new deal includes a player option in the second year, was willing to take less money to stay in L.A.

"It was important for him to go through the process and hear what people wanted to say, but his heart was with the Lakers to stay here and try to win a third title," he said.

Wale - "More About Nothing" Mixtape

I've yet to listen to the mixtape in it's entirety, so I can't really put my 2 cents in this right now, but so far I've heard really good things about this mixtape. Download "More About Nothing" here.

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz Marry

The talented, homewreckin, beautiful, and very pregnant Alicia Keys and producer Swizz Beatz tied the knot over the weekend in a private ceremony in a home in the Mediterranean Sea. She wore a Grecian inspired dress from Vera Wang and he word a Tom Ford tuxedo. Family and close friends were in attendance to witness the couple exchange vows. Congrats to the couple.

DISCLAIMER: yes, i wrote that about Alicia Keys. i do believe she is one, but i still think she's one of the most talented people out right now. I'm just stating my opinion.
