Sorry..

Sorry we haven't been updating lately more than we should have, but finals and the Holidays consumed us. But we will be back on it as soon as it all calms down... But since we're on the subject of Holidays, DixAndChix would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Have a blessed one! :)

Throwback Thursday (part 2)

You KNOW I had to. ;)

I used to love watching this segment in my History of Alvin and The Chipmunks VHS hosted by Will Smith. lol

Throwback Thursday

A "music video" I found of my favorite Christmas movie! At :33, I can't help but crack up every time I watch that scene.. And I can't help but do Kevin's string dance maneuver every time I hear Brenda Lee's "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree". lol

U-N-I x Blu x Pac Div x TiRon x J*Davey x Ayomari in the studio

I had mentioned what might be one of the most insane tracks to ever happen earlier this month. Yesterday, Thurzday posted a little twitvid teaser of what's happening. I honestly can't wait for this to come out.

FAIL! Girl's Hair Catches Fire Live on Diddy's UStream

This happened at Diddy/Dirty Money's album release party live on UStream. LMFAO LMFAO! and LMFAO at Kevin Hart's reaction. hahaha! That's what you get for trying to be sexy in a hot tub and having your hair near a candle. Luckily she was in a hot tub so she could dunk her head in water. lol

Mando Fresko - Some Holiday Ish Mixtape

I was excited for this mixtape... then I heard it and was a little disappointed. I thought it was gonna be a mixtape of ALL Christmas songs, not songs out right now and just 4 Christmas songs. I usually like his mixtapes (you can check them out here), but this one was a flop for me. On the up side, I love the artwork for the mixtape lol.

Just.N.Credible - F*ck With The Lights On Mixtape

[[Sorry for the delayed updates. Finals took over our lives, so cut us some slack.]]

A few days ago, Just-N-Credible released this mixtape for you people who like to get freaky lol. My thoughts on this mixtape? I give it a 6.5/7 out of 10. Here are my reasons:
- The songs he chose were good, but I felt like there was one too many Drake song on here (love Drake, but still). When it comes to setting the mood, Robin Thicke's voice > Drake's voice. More Robin Thicke would have been WAY better.
- There were a couple questionable songs on here I don't understand why he selected it (i.e. Trey Songz "Black Roses".. Really??)
- I didn't really get the vibe of wanting to "f*ck with the lights on".

Overall, I'd listen to this mixtape again for the hell of it because it was a good mixtape and I liked a lot the songs he chose, but it wasn't a "I want to be with you with this playing" mixtape. But you don't have to take my word for it. Take a listen and judge for yourself.

Download: F*ck With The Lights On

((P.S: "Cry For You" took me back to MMC when Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Ryan Gosling, and Dale Godboldo sang this. lmao!))

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

It was only obvious the way the last Pirates movie ended that there was going to be another installment - even though I was really sad that Will and Elizabeth didn't end up together, but not all endings are happy... even Disney movies :/. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly decided to not join this project, so they will be replaced by Penelope Cruz (she's a beautiful woman, but a lot of the times I can't understand what she says). Anywhooo, below is the first official trailer to the movie. I was iffy about it before I watched the trailer, but now I'm actually kind of excited for it come out.

ALSO, apparently there's going to be a 5th and 6th installment to the Pirates franchise. Johnny Depp's my boo and all, but I don't know if I can handle a 5th and 6th one.. but I may be biting my tongue if the trailer changes my mind like this one did.

Yonas - "I Could" [Video]

"I shut down my eyes and now my soul is what I peek through. 'Cuz God whisper to me, 'Yo, these struggles gon' prepare you'..."

A few days ago I posted the trailer to this and now the full video is out. Directed by Nat Prinzi (betterdaysproductions.com), the video goes perfectly to the message of the song: for anybody that was told they couldn't, show them that you could. And just like that, Yonas proves in the video and song, that if you put your heart into it, you could. I may be jumping on this Yonas bandwagon, but I don't care; I've been impressed by everything I've heard from him thus far. Check out his website to download his singles and FREE album.

Kendrick Lamar feat. School Boy Q - Michael Jordan

Fredo Tovar, who's associated with aplusfilmz (who have also directed videos for likes of U-N-I, Common, El Prez, Kurupt, just to name a few) directed the visuals for Kendrick Lamar's "Michael Jordan" off of O(verly) D(edicated). It literally takes you from the streets to the stage. Starting the day off by grabbing something to eat and actually stopping traffic on the freeway. How did Tovar and Lamar stop L.A. traffic on the 110 (i believe they're on), hella beats me! Through the video you catch a few L.A. spots you may be familar with. Check out the video :)

cARTer - Going Hollywood

I'm not sure if this was the same project the L.A. Leakers were talking about back in January this year, but whatever, it's FINALLY here. I'm not cARTer's biggest fan, maybe 'cuz sometimes he just scares the fcuk outta me when I catch him out at events in L.A. =X Quite intimidating haha ANYWAYS, it's been a while since I've heard something new from cARTer, so here's some new sh!t of his to listen to. I'm def appreciating what this guy put out. It took a while for this project to come out, but it seems as if he made sure he tried to perfect what he could and by listening, you can tell. Dope artwork by conarts.com, if i do say so myself (and not just cuz pink's my fave color). cARTer worked with the L.A. Leakers and DJ Skee to get this project together. Download Going Hollywood and get familiarrrr!!!

This isn't an official mixtape coming from Jay-Z himself, but more like a companion piece to go along with Jay-Z's book, Decoded, that came out not too long ago. This tape consists of songs such as: Blue Magic, Big Pimpin', Minority Report, just to name a few. Regardless, this is a pretty dope mix to have.

NKOTB & BSB on the American Music Awards 2010

This performance brought back memories from my "teeny bopper" days =X One thing missing though... *N SYNC! I was definitely an *N SYNC fan during that time, so i totally feel that *N SYNC should come together for a reunion... but will that ever happen?? Highly doubt it. Why? cuz of Justin Timberlake, Mr. Too-Cool-For-School. Oh well, as you watch this video of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys from the AMAs last night, all us *N SYNC fans can just keep on having wishful-thinking about *N SYNC coming together again :/ "NKOTBSB" had a real cute performance though :)

DJ Muggs & Bambu – Los Angeles, Philippines Mixtape

Why the eff wouldn't I post this mixtape for you to download?! Here's a collab between DJ Muggs and Bambu, both of whom have been around the hip hop scene since the late 1980's. I know if i don't post this, I'll be getting crap from my cousin lol So here it is not only for you, but for my cousin as well :) These fellas are also giving fans the choice to download the mixed version or the unmixed version, so take your pick :)

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker Divorce

I guess 07.07.07 isn't good luck after all...

I didn't see this coming. It's been confirmed that Eva Longoria Parker and Tony Parker have filed for divorce earlier today. She even tweeted saying, "It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness." According to TMZ, Tony Parker's been cheating on Longoria with a married woman. To make it worse, it's one of his teammates' wifeys.

GQ's Men Of The Year

Surprise, surprise (no really, I am a little surprised). Drake made it on the list of "Man of the Year"... kinda like his song (no? not funny? never mind).

I have to say, I HATE the picture they chose for him. I've seen better pictures of him with that million dollar smile of his...

But I have to say, James Franco's cover is kinda sexy :D just saying...
Anyway, congrats to all the men of the year. To see the rest, click here.

Yonas - Nobody Else

"...I know it's gettin' hard the type of shit that make you not even believe in God. But listen to my words, hopefully I change the odds 'cuz the true meaning of faith is believing in your cause..."

This is barely the second song I've heard from this guy and I'm hooked. I did a post about him earlier this month because I was impressed with what he was saying in that song, and now with this song, he just gained a new supporter. This guy is someone you DEFINITELY shouldn't sleep on (I should listen to my own advice. lol).

"Hip Hop Fans Are More Likely To Cheat"...?

(source: theboombox)

"With dating sites growing in popularity across the
globe, there's new research about how tastes correspond with how people act in
relationships. Recently, a U.K. dating site for extramarital affairs did a
survey of 460,000 spouses that are currently looking for something a little
extra online and found that hip-hop fans are more likely to cheat on significant
others compared to fans of other genres such as rock, pop, classical, soul,
R&B, electronica and more.

The reason? Well, the site, IllicitEncounters.com, claims that
hip-hop fans are more comfortable with strong sexual content and are therefore
more relaxed and accepting of their own sexuality. A site spokesperson, Sara
Hartley, claims that research shows that a significant number of married people
weigh the prospect of cheating at one point or another, but those that are more
used to rampant sexuality have an easier time actually going through with
it.

'As a genre, hip-hop has always delivered the most explicit lyrical
content when it comes to sex, and listeners who aren't as comfortable
recognizing their own desires may find a lot of the content embarrassing or
objectionable,' theorized Hartley. 'It makes total sense to us why hip-hop would
top the playlists of our members.'"

What ever happened to just liking the same kind of music and not having it to relate to a person's fidelity or infidelity? Personally, I think this "study" is all bull. There's not enough evidence to show that people who listen to hip hop are more than likely to cheat.

What do you think? Does listening to music reflect a person's commitment to a relationship?

Adele - Rolling In The Deep [Video]

"The scars of your love remind me of us.They keep me thinking that we almost had it all..."
This is Adele's single off her new album, 21, coming out early next year... Three words: TA.LEN.TED haha

Lauryn Hill x The Roots - Is This Love? [Video]

Over the weekend, Lauryn Hill and The Roots performed at Michael J. Fox's annual fundraising event, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Curing Parkinson's Disease. (For more information about his organization or if you want to donate, visit his website here). They did a cover of Bob Marley's "Is This Love?"

Lauryn Hill's still got it. Her outfits and make-up might be questionable, but there's no doubt that she still has the voice to blow our minds.

Snoop Dogg - New Year's Eve [Video]

Directed by Dylan "Pook" Brown

This song's off his upcoming album Doggumentary Music: 0020. It features Marty James.

Sidenote: I like the fact that he used his real lady for this video.

Sidenote 2: This Marty guy can sing, but is it me or does he look like those nerds who try real hard to be cool like Anthony Michael Hall in Sixteen Candles? Just saying...

Sidenote 3 (from Camille): And i love the fact they used Kress nightclub :) That club is one of my L.A. favorites. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong on what club they used.)

LA Leakers x Wiz Khalifa pt.2

Here's the second part of the L.A. Leakers interview with my fave lanky, weed-smokin', black boy, Wiz Khalifa. The end of the interview is mad funny, BUT let me defend us, girls, that will NOT "do anything to get on the bus". Main reason: who knows what you'll catch just steppin' on that bus of his?!? and two: we wouldn't wanna get arrested for possession of sweet mary j boo boo, okaaayyy lol but i will admit, I will roll one up with Wiz, IF i ever get the chance to =X Wiz also mentions "chillum" in the interview... Had no idea what it was until i googled it. Ain't no way I'm smoking from there! Anyway, check out the interview:

Amanda Diva - Manchild

"Stuck in his ways, walking with his chest out. Knows what he ain't, but don't know what to be about"

Innovative chick, with lyrics to match. Watch this music video with Amanda Diva. This video goes great with the saying "boys will be boys"... That's when it's time to find a man! This song will be on Technicolor Lover FreEP coming out soon.

Pacquiao wins... AGAIN

If you didn't watch the fight, where the eff where you!?! Everyone and their mama's watched the Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight. No lie, I was AFRAID to watch this match-up. Margarito looked like one scary fck that could straight beat Pacman. But anyone watching the fight, cold clearly see how Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao dominated the fight. He threw and landed way more punches than his opponent, Antonio Margarito. If you missed it, click here to catch a recap of the fight and a small interview with PacMan answering the question of Mayweather... At the end of the fight, PacMan earned his 8th championship belt in his 8th different division.

Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name

I was taught to not say anything if I have nothing nice to say.....
BUT do i do everything I'm taught? Nope. Babygirl needs to cut that sh!tty bright red hair of hers. If she's goin' for the Chucky look, she's hitting it on the dot! Other than that, cute video. It makes a lot of girls wish to run into that one guy that can go "downtown" at a market while getting milk... #wishfulthinking

we$tside wednesday.

DOM said he'd be deliverin' somethin' every Wednesday; last week he introduced himself with This is DOM Kennedy; Life as I Know It. this week he tops it with visuals for what seems like EVERYONE's favorite song off that From the Westside with Love, Locals Only.

this video, i mean, short film made me appreciate DOM & his music that much more. from the French credits & the subtitles, the girl is a WIN (i love her eyes), DOM is lookin' mighty cute himself & the THIRD verse, where did that come from?! it's so dope! (& makes me wonder why it never made it on the project). all around, this short film is a CLASSIC!

"That's Cute Interview" with The 87 Stick Up Kids

The "Chix" caught up with The 87 Stick Up Kids to ask them a few questions... a few questions turned into a lot of questions, but that's okay ;) For those of you who don't exactly know much about them, here's a video to school you on SK87; from learning how they got together to other artists they listen to/like to work with.

Check back for part 2 in a couple days!

DISCLAIMER: We understand it's blurry so get over it lol jk. It was our first time doing something like this and we'd like to thank The 87 Stick Up Kids for letting us interview them.

Bubble Gum One Year Anniversary

Happy one year to Bubble Gum! If you aren't doing anything tonight, do yourself a favor and hit it up!

Wiz Khalifa Arrested on Drug Charges

[I really wish they released his mugshot. For some reason I can see him smiling that cheesy smile he does sometimes. haha]

"Wiz Khalifa was arrested on Monday night in Greenville, North Carolina, on drug
charges after authorities allegedly smelled marijuana smoke coming from his tour
bus.

...Khalifa, who is very vocal about his marijuana use, was stopped by ECU police officers as he left the venue. 'He was on his way with his band to his bus parked outside, and they stopped him because of a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the bus and the backstage area of the
auditorium,' Durham said.

'They asked if he would cooperate with officers, and he agreed, and they went on his bus, and then he and nine members of his entourage were arrested...' Durham said. Police are alleged to have seized more than 60 grams of pot during the bust, or the equivalent of about 2 ounces.

On Tuesday morning (November 9)... Khalifa (born Cameron Thomaz) was booked into the jail at around 1:30 a.m. He posted $300,000 bail and was released from detention at around 8 a.m. ET, along with one other unnamed member of his entourage. He was charged with a felony count of trafficking in marijuana, a felony count of maintaining a dwelling/vehicle/place for sale or storage of marijuana and one misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Keith Stroup, legal council at the marijuana legalization advocacy group NORML said it's more
than likely that Khalifa's lawyers will make a plea agreement in which the rapper — who boasted in a recent interview about a $10,000-a-month weed habit and launched his own brand of rolling papers last month — will agree to possession of marijuana for personal use.

It was unclear at press time if police had found any such evidence of intent to distribute.

Stroup said that in North Carolina, possession of more than 1 1/2 ounces of marijuana is a felony
punishable by up to 12 months in jail, but that it is unlikely that prosecutors would pursue a trial and they would likely opt for a plea deal instead.

A spokesperson for Khalifa could not be reached for comment at press time."

He even tweeted about his arrest earlier today with "waken...baken...wrist still achin. thnx for tha love and support", "man, jail sux! but bein taylor'd doesn't", and "finna get tha rest of these fools out and grab sum grub" lol. I don't think Wiz has any shame haha.

You think this arrest would make him stop smoking that kush? I HIGHLY doubt it. Maybe next time, though, he and his entourage will be a little more cautious.

P.S. Wiz, don't smoke on campus grounds when YOU KNOW there are cops trying to bust students for smoking out also. Just saying...

Welcome Home Weezy Mixtape by Just.N.Credible

Dedicated to Lil Wayne's release from jail, here's a mix, of basically all, of Lil' Wayne's music. When I first heard this mix, I was like, "Faackk! Weezy's got mad songs!" I never realized how many hits Weezy's had until I listened to this 60 minute mix. Whether they're Weezy's tracks or him being featured on a track, his verses are quite ill, if I do say so myself. Bravo to Just.N.Credible, of the L.A. Leakers & Power 106, for putting this together! great mix! Download and bump this mix in your car... you know you want to ;)

Throwback Thursday

Let's take a trip down memory lane to a time when Nick Jr. was better than anything else on TV! Gullah Gullah Island was the sh!t.. To this day when my dad decides to make crabs for dinner, I like to pick one up and make it go to sleep #RandomFactThatStuckWithMe haha!

Mayer Hawthorne - No Strings (DJ Jazzy Jeff Remix)

Mayer Hawthorne got Dj Jazzy Jeff to give remix anthem about one night stands. Personally, I like the original one better, but this one isn't too bad. It seems "slick" for the lack of better words. lol

Download the remix here.

Blu – KeepItGoing f. U-God (prod. Flying Lotus)

GUILTY: I really need to stop sleeping on Blu. I only have his Below The Heavens Mixtape (btw, shouts to BJ of WatDaDickens for familiarizing me with Blu) and it's one mixtape I can listen over and over again, but for some reason I just always look past him with his other projects. Anyway, download KeepItGoing.

Yonas - The Last Hope (remix)

I'd be lying if I said I listened to his other music beforehand. Anyway, I was on 2dopeboyz and stumbled upon this latest download. I have to say I'm impressed. Dropping rhymes on an already familiar beat, Yonas gives us a pretty optimistic outlook on life about going for you goal. Download it and take a listen for yourself.

Bobby V - Alter Ego ft. 50 Cent

Not much to say about it except I like the song.
Download it here.

LA Leakers x Wiz Khalifa

I have been WAITING since last year for the LA Leakers to interview my favorite, lanky, weed-smokin', tatted up black boy, Wiz Khalifa. The Leakers recently linked up with Wiz to get an interview. Here's the first part of the interview, where Just.N.Credible asks about mixtapes, and about Rick Ross & Drake. When will the second part be released? idk... be sure to check back for it :)

Wiz Khalifa x LA Leakers from LaLeakers on Vimeo.

Drake talks...

... about the last leg of his tour. Since we all know Weezy will be out very soon, the crowd at his last show can quite possibly expect to see Lil' Wayne there! The cutie also talks about his mixtape. Check out the videos!

& when I find her I'd promise I'm never gonna break up.

Ryan Leslie - "Never Gonna Break Up" from Paradoxal Inc on Vimeo.

some of you fellas need to take some advice from Ryan Leslie ;]
i don't know how late i am on this video or if it's the OFFICIAL video but here's one of my favorite songs from the album Transition by one of my favorite artist, EVER!
i think Ryan doesn't get the credit he truly deserves. i remember mikee showin' me some youtube videos he came out with at the beginning of his career. i was fixated on the screen with every video mainly because the energy he has & the passion for music is CRAZY!
& it also doesn't hurt that he's a genius, word is he graduated from Harvard at 19!
i'm tellin' you fellas, TAKE NOTES!

Wiz Khalifa & Chris Brown - Black And Yellow [Live]

The audio to this video is EXTREMELY muffled up until the end and I think Wiz needs to pull up his camo cargos, but that's just my opinion. My sis, Camille, might beg to differ : haha Anyway, here's footage of Chris Brown jumping on stage during Wiz Khalifa's show in Houston for "Black and Yellow".

Mariah Comfirms Pregnancy

It was only obvious that she was pregnant, given she pretty much blew up like that in only a matter of months. But they go on to say that they tried keeping it a secret for a while because she had a miscarriage prior to this pregnancy. Anyway, congratulations to the married couple!

KiD CuDi - Man On The Moon II The Legend Of Mr. Rager [Trailer]

WTF!?!? o.O

King Hammer (?) - Better Run Run [Video]

MC King Hammer decided to make his way back into the media by dissing Jay-Z in this video..

That's all I can say about it. :|

J. Cole - I'm Coming Home

A new track from J. Cole. Even though he KNOWS he can't sing for the life of him, it's still cute to hear him sing a little on a track. This song could possibly help him reach more radios, which is the goal for a lot of these artists. He still proving why he made it on XXL's freshmen for 2010

Download it here.

Kid CuDi fcuuuuuked up!

It's a random clip of Kid Cudi waaayyy too messed up than he should be over the weekend. It's actually a pretty funny clip cuz, well, drunk people are just funny to watch. lol

Every guy has these items in their closet (and ladies, if you want to dress up as this also, I'm sure you can raid your dad's, brother's, or boyfriend's closet). So since it's last minute, I think this would be an easy Halloween costume I think everyone could appreciate. lol

What You'll Need:
- Long Sleeve White Collared Shirt
- White Socks
- White Boxers or Breifs
- Ray Bay Wayfarer or sunglasses looking similar to that
- Candle Holder (optional)
