J. Cole Ft. Drake - In The Morning

J.Cole's girl in the video is one pretty girl, definitely a cutie. J. Cole lookin' cute too... BUT Drake? Whaaaat!? Drake is lookin'g a LITTLE messy, but that's just MY opinion. I'm sure some of ya'll will second that though lol I'm guessing J. Cole didn't want that breakfast he was talking about, leaving the chick behind in bed & all lol And apparently leaving a shirt behind makes it all better, oookaaaayyy haha

Future the Prince Mixtape Vol. 3

Here is Future the Prince's latest mixtape. You may not be familiar with him, but he's DJ'ed for Drake numerous times. It's a mix of all the latest songs out right now and of course, he's got Young Money in his mixtape (some songs are new to me), but he's also got Jeremih, Rick Ross, Lloyd, Kanye West, Ms. Keri Hilson, etc. This is a mixtape you definitely bump when getting ready to go for a night out with the chix or the "dix". Anyway, thought I'd share it with you. Click the picture to download it.

GQ's Men Of The Year

Surprise, surprise (no really, I am a little surprised). Drake made it on the list of "Man of the Year"... kinda like his song (no? not funny? never mind).

I have to say, I HATE the picture they chose for him. I've seen better pictures of him with that million dollar smile of his...

But I have to say, James Franco's cover is kinda sexy :D just saying...
Anyway, congrats to all the men of the year. To see the rest, click here.

Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name

I was taught to not say anything if I have nothing nice to say.....
BUT do i do everything I'm taught? Nope. Babygirl needs to cut that sh!tty bright red hair of hers. If she's goin' for the Chucky look, she's hitting it on the dot! Other than that, cute video. It makes a lot of girls wish to run into that one guy that can go "downtown" at a market while getting milk... #wishfulthinking

Drake Speaks & 9th Wonder

We all know Drake's right-hand man would be 40 when it comes to producing, but here's Drake talking about working with 9th Wonder. He's used one of 9th's beats back on his Comeback Season mixtape, a song called "Think Good Thoughts". Towards the end of the song, Drake completely stops it and admits to not having paid 9th for the beat yet. I'm sure ya'll know what I'm talking about. Check out what else Drake has to say about 9th Wonder...

*Deep breath* Aaahhhh... Ohh Drake, let's not try so hard boo boo.
Keep with ATF, and give us something FRESH. Here's Drake giving us a track off of his upcoming R&B mixtape. Let's all hope that the whole mixtape doesn't sound like this. This song is def on his, as my friend would say, "dreamy" sh!t. shout to you @SvperbEsque lol Take a listen and see how you feel about this song. With the short while it's been out, from what I've been talking to people about..... mixed feelings.

Chris Brown - feat. Drake, Kanye West, Fabolous, T.I., Rick Ross, & Andre 3000 - Deuces remix

I have to say I think this Deuces remix > Christian Dior Denim Flow. My opinion. My favorite bars have got to come from Ye... OR Andre 3000. A total toss up between the two for me. The other fellas on the track DID hold their own. Def feelin' this remix!

VMA Performances

source: mtv

This year's VMA performances came with a few hits and misses. (warning: this is all just my opinion, so if you get mad just remember to agree to disagree)

  • At the pre-show, Nicki Minaj performed "Your Love" and premiered a new song "Check It Out" with Will.I.Am. What can I say about Nicki Minaj? No seriously, what can I say about her? She's weird. : And I have no idea what the hell Will.I.Am was thinking painting his face black and keeping it that way the whole night. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Eminem opened up the show with his singles "Not Afraid" and "Love The Way You Lie" and surprise surprise (not really) Rihanna joined him on stage even though she claimed that she wasn't going to attend the awards show. His performance was pretty good. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. [[VERDICT: HIT until Rihanna opened her mouth]]
  • Justin Bieber did a medley of 3 songs ("U Smile", "Baby", & "Somebody To Love"). I actually liked his performance (it's the teeny bopper in me. haha). Make fun of him all you want but he can sing, dance, and get more girls than a lot of 20+ year olds can lol. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Next up was Justin Bieber's mentor, Usher. He sang "DJ Got Us Fallin In Love" & "OMG". I like Usher, but this performance was nothing surprising. Plus his hair was very reminiscent of his "You Make Me Wanna" music video. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Florence and The Machine was my favorite performance of the night. I thought everything about it was awesome. The choreography and the way she used the stage was really creative. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Oh Taylor Swift. I'm a fan of Taylor Swift (judge me) and obviously this song was about Kanye (if you didn't get that, slap yourself), but I've seen her do this before. I was also a little bothered by her bare feet... maybe because I just hate feet, I'm not sure. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Drake's performance was cute. haha. I think I got more excited because Justin Timberlake introduced him. xD Anyway, Mary J. Blige was on point. I liked it overall. *this was my dad's favorite performance of the night. He kept praising Mary J. Blige's voice and Drake's and Swizz Beatz showmanship. By the way, Drake's outfit was finally not a miss. I'm glad he didn't wear his usual all black with white sneakers get up. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • B.O.B with Bruno Mars and Hayley Williams (and later Paramore) all pretty much did a medley of "Nothin' On You", "Airplanes", and "The Only Exception". I thought B.O.B. was going to be on there throughout it all, but it seemed like Paramore had a longer set. Plus side, I love Hayley Williams' voice. I don't like Paramore, but that girl has a really nice voice. [[VERDICT: HIT/MISS; I'm still not too sure]]
  • Linkin Park was my second favorite performance. Them performing at the Griffith Observatory was the perfect setting for their song. I don't think these guys age cuz they all looked pretty amazing. I'm just saying. ;) [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Lastly, Kanye West closed the show premiering his new song "Runaway" with an appearance by Pusha T. I hate Kanye as a person, but as a musician, he's a beast. It was interesting to say the least, but I really liked his song. This was also my dad's favorite performance. In fact, my dad was already singing along to the chorus the second time around. haha [[VERDICT: HIT for the most part]]
Overall, this year's VMAs performances were mostly hits and will have America talk about it for a few more days. Also, it looked like that night's House Artist, Deadmau5, kept the crowd entertained so kudos to him.

"Miss Me" - Drake ft. Lil' Wayne (Music Video)

Let me start off by saying at the :30 sec mark of the video, Drake's face is PRICELESS!

Drake's videos are progressively getting better. This video is 1000xs better than "Best I Ever Had" which was all pretty much a joke anyway. His outfits, on the other hand, are still on the ehh, side. WTF was the all denim outfit with the gray thermal and scarf? Too much, Drake.. Too much. Aside from his facial expressions and outfits, I give the video a 7 3/4 out of 10. The pyros, him watching the girl dance in the room, standing in the middle of an abandoned field, and Weezy's obvious absence (#freeweezy), it was all still a little common.

Drake - What If I Kissed You [w/ tags]

"If we were a secret, how long could you keep it? Keep it to yourelf, don't tell nobody else"

Simple answer to that if he asked me! i'd keep it a secret for however long i could keep it as long as i had him! ;] haha jk In all honesty i didn't like the song at first, but it grew on to me. Supposedly, this song will be featured on his upcoming R&B mixtape.

PowerHouse 2010

This past Saturday, June 19, 2010, Power 106 hosted PowerHouse 2010 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Ca. I was invited last minute by a "friend" (who we will refer to as "shawwty" ;] haha). We didn't get there early to see J. Cole, Miguel, & others perform for free outside Honda Center, but it's okay. I'm still determined to see J. Cole perform before he really gets really popular... same with Miguel.
My shawwty and my seats weren't the best, but hey, they were free so I wasn't complaining. lol. The show started off with Cali Swag District, Mike Posner, and YG performing their singles. I was excited to see Mike Posner on stage because I'd been a fan since I saw him at The Roxy last year.

After them DJ Mando Fresko came out to introduce Jason Derulo. I thought it was only fitting for him to introduce him because of this. haha. I thought Jason Derulo did a pretty good job considering I'm not so much of a fan of his music. After, was B.O.B. I remember tweeting after his set saying I know why my sister fell in love with him after seeing him live. You don't want to take your eyes off of him when he's on stage. He only did 4 songs, but he made sure to leave an impression. Playboy Tre and Bruno Mars came out with him. I think fell in love with Bruno Mars' voice that night xD After B.O.B, Big Boy's neighborhood (Big Boy, DJ Eman, Jeff G, and Liz Hernandez) came up to introduce the first surprise of the night who was Golden Boy, Oscar de la Hoya, but he was QUICKLY overshadowed when he brought up Ron Artest on stage. Since he was still on his championship high, he performed his single, "Champions". You can find it on my youtube page here.

Next was Baby Bash. I thought he seemed to have been out of place in this line-up, but I was proved wrong by all the fans that were there... especially in my section. I even surprised myself. I caught myself singing all the songs he performed that night. lol. Then out of nowhere, he brought up New Boyz. Why? I don't know why. They don't mesh well in my mind, but he brought them up anyway and they sang "Tie Me Down". He also brought up Iyaz; again, it was really random. He sang "Replay". When he finished, my shawwty and I were taken aback when we saw Danny Trejo lifting up his shirt and walked off stage. lmao

Then came the good part. Yesi Ortiz and Liz Hernandez introduced Trey Songz onto the stage. He knows he can make a girl feel weak in the knees just by standing still. He was definitely teasing all the chicks (and possibly some men) in the audience throughout his set. I almost felt embarrassed to be watching him "explain" how "Neighbors Know My Name" came about with my shawwty next to me. lmfao, but DAYYYUUUMMM! just watch the video so you know what I mean. I would definitely DEFINITELY see him in concert again. In between sets, Big Boy brought up Derek Fisher on stage and the crowd went nuts! He had no single out, so he was only there for a little bit show his face and give everyone a big thank you for the support. haha

Up next was Drake. I was happy to have seen him in concert last year in May at CSULA and from then to now, his stage presence has improved soo much! I'm not gonna say he made me feel like he was performing directly at me like how someone told him in his documentary, but he was really giving it his all on that stage. But I swear, I still see him as Jimmy from Degrassi. When he talks, I hear and see Jimmy Brooks BEFORE he shaved off his funky ass 'fro and was "wheelchair Jimmy". haha. Majority of the songs he did were verses he had on other songs and some songs off his mixtapes. Right before he performed his last song "Over", he brought up none other than The Black Mamba, Mr. MVP himself, number 24, Kobe Bryant! Kobe was literally only on stage for five seconds, but everyone in the venue were up on their feet giving him a standing ovation.

During the day, people were tweeting how there was going to be a surprise set that night. DJ Eric Dlux went on stage and introduced him as the "man with many names", but still didn't say exactly who it was. My guess was Diddy. Lo and behold it WAS Diddy. There were definitely some mixed emotions in my section. I heard a few "boos" when he came on stage, but he kept reassuring us Californians that the WEST SIDE vs. East Side beef is over. Regardless of that, I was half assed rapping along (because I didn't know all the words. lol) with his songs like "I Need A Girl pt. 2" and "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems". Afterward, Ne-Yo came on stage. What can I say about him? He oozes talent. I remember seeing him in concert at CSUN back in '07. Unfortunately, unwanted memories go along with Ne-Yo which is a shame because I think this man is genius. He's a great singer, dancer, songwriter. He's Ne-Yo.

Last up to close the show was Snoop Dogg. Snoop is Snoop. He performed his hits like "Gin & Juice" and "Nothing But A G Thang". I swear, though, right when he hit the stage, all the blunts that people snuck in were lit up in my section. I seriously think I had a contact high from all the weed that was pretty much blown in my face. I think half of my excitement, aside from seeing him perform live for the first time in my life, was being able to see him perform with that special mic of his. haha It also seemed like half of the entertainment came from his outfit/jumpsuit/footsie pajamas. lol. Snoop also had his family up on stage with him throughout his set. IT was cute, cuz you could hear his mom (I think) singing along to the hooks. He also had Kurput and Warren G up with him to do "Ain't No Fun".

All in all, this concert has to be one of my top 5 favorite concerts I've ever been to. Doesn't matter what seat you're in; as long as you're having a real good time and the performer(s) reeling you in, then that deserves top ranking in my book. If you want to see better pictures from that night, go here to check it out.

Drake: Better Than Good Enough

If you haven't seen Drake's documentary on mtv the other day catch it on mtv.com. I watched the documentary last night. I had no idea 40, one of Drake's engineers (along with being one of Drake's closest friends), was sick. This segment is Drake talking about how much 40 is a big part of life and how to lose him would be something he couldn't imagine. Like i tweeted last night, even if you hate Drake, after watching this you've got to have at least SOME respect for him.

to catch the rest of the documentary click here.

Drake - "Light Up (feat. Jay-Z)"

With all the leaks from his Thank Me Later album, I say release it already! Don't trip Drake, I won't complain. I've liked all the songs you've leaked so far.
