Eminem & Royce da 5'9" ft. Bruno Mars - "Lighters" (Video)

"...but from now on I’m refusing to ever give up
The only thing I ever gave up is using. No more excuses..."
This song takes on a more inspirational direction that still has the serious tone in it. I love how the songs kind of contrasts from Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" (Bad Meets Evil) being in your face to Bruno Mars' melodic voice almost calming your mood down. The video's influential also.

Look At Me Now (Cover by Karmin)

I came across this while procrastinating and LMAO!! This was one hell of a cover. You wouldn't expect this band (Karmin) to give Chris Brown's single a new kind of "je ne sai quoi" flavor to it. But they did. They delivered. And homegirl has a really nice voice.. If you head over to their page, you can view other videos of them covering songs like "I Need A Doctor" by Eminem, "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars, "What's My Name" by Drake (yes, I said Drake b/c I refuse to taint this blog with her name) or "Set Fire To The Rain" by Adele. Aside from obvious talent they have (don't lie to yourself, you know they're good), they have fun doing these covers so check them out!

BONUS: Because I REALLY liked their version.

Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song [VIdeo]

I love this little short man. Anyway, this video was pretty much a carefree, "lazy" video, that made sense and didn't at the same time (if that makes sense lol). With Poreotics in the monkey masks, they give us a few choreography that goes seamlessly to the song.

Brunuo Mars ft. Damien Marley - "Liquor Store Blues"

So my baby boy, Bruno Mars, came out with a video to one of my favorite songs off his Doo-Wops & Hooligans album, "Liquor Store Blues". The video has him and Damien Marley singing about living day by day through a bottle of liquor with smoke surrounding them and psychedelic colors coming in and out throughout it all. With a song like this, it doesn't need super extravegant special effects or props to get their point across. I dig it. Check out the music video by clicking on the picture above.

Bruno Mars, Wiz Khalifa, B.o.B Vibe Magazine

My favorite little Puerto Rican/Filipino singer and my sister's favorite tatted up, skinny, lanky, weed smoker along with B.o.B. on the same cover? That's cute lol... Anyway, these three talents grace (or mean mug) the cover of Vibe's Feb/March issue on newsstands Feb. 22. As you can tell there's a "Black & Yellow" theme going on. I dig it.

*sidenote: there was some OBVIOUS photoshopping that happened here cuz we all know Wiz is 6'3" while Bruno Mars barely hits 5'2"... just saying.

Grenade - Bruno Mars [Video]

I don't know if I'd catch a grenade for Bruno Mars, but I definitely wouldn't treat him like sh*t if he were mine. lol

Bruno Mar on SNL

This past weekend Bruno Mars was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. He was looking quite dapper with his "Doo-Wop" inspired suit, hair, and classic oxfords *swoons* (he also kinda looked like Ritchie Valens). Above is his performance of his latest single "Grenade".

I'd post "Just The Way You Are", but the embedded code is being stupid right now so you can find his performance on Mando Fresko's website.

Bruno Mars Arrested For Drug Possession

Ain't that a beauty up there?

Source: mtv

"...the singer/songwriter wound up with the wrong kind of attention early Sunday morning in Las Vegas when he was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the 23-year-old singer (born Peter Gene Hernandez), who is preparing to drop his full-length solo debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, next month, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, after security at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino confronted him in a bathroom and allegedly found him to be in possession of narcotics.

At press time a spokesperson for the Las Vegas Police Department could not be reached for confirmation of the arrest or for information on what drugs Mars is said to have possessed at the time of his arrest."

WHY, BRUNO MARS? WHYYYY?! I had a secret crush on you when I first saw you in B.O.B's "Nothin' On You" music video, then I proclaimed my love and support for you when "Just The Way You Are" came out... and then seeing you live at The Grove on Friday just confirmed why I was so smitten over you, and now you give me this?!? And you look like THAT in your mug shot? Come on now. Why couldn't you have done this AFTER you debut album came out?

Ugghhh, aside from your stupidity, I still think you're one talented mofo and I'll still support you. But you have two more chances. If you strike out two more times, then you're just a lost cause...

And a tip for you, if you're gonna do drugs, at least be more careful about it and don't do it in a public restroom.

(**Disclaimer: I am in NO WAY supporting his drug use. I don't do drugs. Never tried and I have no interest in them. If you do, then by all means, that's your life. I have no say in it unless you bring me into it... Now as you were.)

**UPDATE**
source: TMZ
"LVMPD officials state a bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock Hotel informed security "there was a man in the bathroom stall with possibly a man using drugs."

According to the report, the attendant went on to say he could "see a male in a striped red shirt with a baggy of white powder substance."

Once law enforcement officers made their move -- cops say they asked Bruno to "give over whatever narcotics he had." According to the report, Bruno then "pulled out a white powder substance, which was consistent with cocaine, from his left-front jeans pocket."

Cops say Bruno --aka Peter Hernandez-- "admitted he did a foolish thing and has never used drugs before."

The report shows ... once the substance "came back positive for cocaine," Bruno was shipped off to the Clark County Detention Center and booked for possession of narcotics."
I still ♥ you, Mr. Hernandez, but saying that's your first time using drugs?? I call BS.

VMA Performances

source: mtv

This year's VMA performances came with a few hits and misses. (warning: this is all just my opinion, so if you get mad just remember to agree to disagree)

  • At the pre-show, Nicki Minaj performed "Your Love" and premiered a new song "Check It Out" with Will.I.Am. What can I say about Nicki Minaj? No seriously, what can I say about her? She's weird. : And I have no idea what the hell Will.I.Am was thinking painting his face black and keeping it that way the whole night. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Eminem opened up the show with his singles "Not Afraid" and "Love The Way You Lie" and surprise surprise (not really) Rihanna joined him on stage even though she claimed that she wasn't going to attend the awards show. His performance was pretty good. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. [[VERDICT: HIT until Rihanna opened her mouth]]
  • Justin Bieber did a medley of 3 songs ("U Smile", "Baby", & "Somebody To Love"). I actually liked his performance (it's the teeny bopper in me. haha). Make fun of him all you want but he can sing, dance, and get more girls than a lot of 20+ year olds can lol. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Next up was Justin Bieber's mentor, Usher. He sang "DJ Got Us Fallin In Love" & "OMG". I like Usher, but this performance was nothing surprising. Plus his hair was very reminiscent of his "You Make Me Wanna" music video. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Florence and The Machine was my favorite performance of the night. I thought everything about it was awesome. The choreography and the way she used the stage was really creative. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Oh Taylor Swift. I'm a fan of Taylor Swift (judge me) and obviously this song was about Kanye (if you didn't get that, slap yourself), but I've seen her do this before. I was also a little bothered by her bare feet... maybe because I just hate feet, I'm not sure. [[VERDICT: MISS]]
  • Drake's performance was cute. haha. I think I got more excited because Justin Timberlake introduced him. xD Anyway, Mary J. Blige was on point. I liked it overall. *this was my dad's favorite performance of the night. He kept praising Mary J. Blige's voice and Drake's and Swizz Beatz showmanship. By the way, Drake's outfit was finally not a miss. I'm glad he didn't wear his usual all black with white sneakers get up. [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • B.O.B with Bruno Mars and Hayley Williams (and later Paramore) all pretty much did a medley of "Nothin' On You", "Airplanes", and "The Only Exception". I thought B.O.B. was going to be on there throughout it all, but it seemed like Paramore had a longer set. Plus side, I love Hayley Williams' voice. I don't like Paramore, but that girl has a really nice voice. [[VERDICT: HIT/MISS; I'm still not too sure]]
  • Linkin Park was my second favorite performance. Them performing at the Griffith Observatory was the perfect setting for their song. I don't think these guys age cuz they all looked pretty amazing. I'm just saying. ;) [[VERDICT: HIT]]
  • Lastly, Kanye West closed the show premiering his new song "Runaway" with an appearance by Pusha T. I hate Kanye as a person, but as a musician, he's a beast. It was interesting to say the least, but I really liked his song. This was also my dad's favorite performance. In fact, my dad was already singing along to the chorus the second time around. haha [[VERDICT: HIT for the most part]]
Overall, this year's VMAs performances were mostly hits and will have America talk about it for a few more days. Also, it looked like that night's House Artist, Deadmau5, kept the crowd entertained so kudos to him.

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (Video)

About a month and a half ago I wrote about Bruno Mars' song when it was first released. Now he has a pretty cute video to go along with the ultra cute song. The video in it's entirety isn't too bad. I wished it would have been sweeter and show more chemistry between the two, but it's still cute enough to watch. The whole animation with the cassette tape's film definitely saved the video, though.

I think it's funny how Bruno Mars never stood up. Maybe because he's probably shorter than her (he's only 5'2". I'm gonna blame his Filipino side. haha)

Bruno Mars - Move On

(Shout to my friend Christian for sharing this with me)
I'm not sure where this song is from, but it's been out for a while and I just recently heard it. I'm in LOVE with his voice. A little pathetic for the dude on his part, but aside from thinking logically, I'm a hopeless romantic so this song just melts my heart.
You can download the song here.

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are

Bruno Mars has made a name in the music business by collaborating with B.O.B. and Travie McCoy. Now it's his time to shine with his upcoming debut album called Just The Way You Are and releasing his first single called "Just The Way You Are". It's been a while since a song has given me butterflies in my stomach for the reason of it being so damn cute. And I would like to applaud Bruno Mars for giving me that feeling again. haha. He definitely has a voice that no one can deny and it helps that he's half Filipino so I gotta support my people ;) lol. Listen to the song to understand why this song makes me feel all giggly inside. xD

"Billionaire" -Travie McCoy feat. Bruno Mars (Acoustic)

B.o.B. "Nothing On You ft. Bruno Mars"

I'm a little late on this video, but whatever better late than never. Here's B.o.B. music video to "Nothing On You". I really like the concept of it. It kinda reminds me of Michael Jackson's "Leave Me Alone" video; not the weirdness of it, but the whole paper cut-out concept. lol
