first off, the artwork on the project is so creative with the James Bond theme & fittin' so appropriate with Stevie & his Crooklyn world which then leads to the actual songs that also follow the cover & goes for that James Bond theme. Much credit goes to the production team because this project goes from track to track so effortless.
some artist will put out a mixtape for you to download & call it a day. Stevie & his team always does an amazing job of always having a conceptual theme - from his promo shots dressed quite dapper to the video teaser he dropped earlier to match his theme. everythin' was done with a concept in mind & it payed off.
I've been hearing talks about The WINE since last year. From the very start of the whole concept and since then I've been anticipating to hear what Stevie Crooks has got in store for all of us. Here's a little teaser to The WINE's release tomorrow... FINALLY!
Stevie Crooks has been working hard on his upcoming project, The Wine, that he almost forgot to give us a little something before he releases it. So here's a track for us to listen to as we wait for The Wine to come out :)
Here's another event to check out. Bananas is held once every month in Leimert Park. Some names to check out are Slik D, Casey Veggies, and Stevie Crooks. There will be other acts to catch that night.
I wasn't able to make it to the BBi Release party, but here's some live footage of Stevie Crooks performing "Cooklyn". If you didn't make it out to see him at the party, be sure to check him out at upcoming shows (keep checking the blog for updates).
Here's another event going down this Thursday. BBi Clothing will be having their Spring/Summer 2010 release party tomorrow night. Stevie Crooks and Kendrick Lamar will be performing there, so if you're in the area and have the chance to check it out, do so!
The "Crooklyn" video is finally out. Video's raw, idk what he would want to change about it. i feel like he's tryna show how the life of a villain is really lived :) check it out...
Let me first start off by saying shouts to Stevie Crooks for putting me up on Marz LoveJoy. Where do I begin with this talented chick!? I checked to see if she had a music myspace (cuz music myspace is the answer to EVERYTHING for me lol), but nope. Nada. So i went onto Marz LoveJoy's twitter account to see where it would lead me. It lead me to the right spot. She has a youtube account that she started up about 6 months ago. Her account is FULL of rhymes, proving she's not just another pretty face in the crowd. Her rhymes can speak for her, she goes hard! Honestly, I've been waiting for a girl on the come up to prove that the fellas ain't the only ones to be fucking with. Truthful shit, I feel that Marz LoveJoy is the one to put the ladies out there, to rep and show the fellas that a girl can do exactly what they do... Maybe even better =X After watching her youtube videos, #nohomo or anything lol, but she's my new girl crush hahaha Not only is she cute, but she HAS BARS! i don't know whether I should say this, but she reminds of a Left Eye, without the "bubblegum-ness"/"pop-ness" that came with the whole TLC thing. (*sidenote: i still love me some TLC. From "what about your friends" to "creep" haha) LoveJoy is different. She is DEFINITELY NOT a nicki minaj. If nicki and lovejoy were each given 16 bars.... I don't think Minaj could fuck with LoveJoy on some real shit lol I would give you more info about who Marz LoveJoy is, but she can do it herself. Check this out:
Here's a video proving why she can probably knock some fellas outta the way. Song's pretty dope...
I feel like I'm throwing EVERYTHING at you guys, but here's one more song you can check out. It's called "Dear John Doe". Download "Dear John Doe" - Marz LoveJoy
So basically, don't sleep on this girl. She's got a project coming out sometime this year called "This Little Light of Mine..." Know you can catch that up on our blog once it's out. So shouts to Marz LoveJoy for being one talented chick on the come up. Prove to the fellas you can do what they do!
Though us dixandchix didn't agree on certain mixtapes that have dropped recently, we all agree on Diamonds & Guns. Here's a video basically promoting his D&G project. Watch the video and if you haven't downloaded D&G, do it NOW :)
i remember first hearin' Stevie Crook's 'CSTC Mixtape' & lovin' that he used 90's hip hop beats to rap over (my favorite has to be Luchini although i wished he used Feelin' It rather than makin' it a skit). anywayyy, enough about my wish list....
he's got somethin' new for your hearin' pleasure; 'Diamond & Guns' Stevie's witty with his flows & personally, the production on this whole project is impeccable (yeees i think it's that good). earlier, i was speakin' to abee & i think he said it best about this project: 'the whole theme is dope & how all the songs relate to it' stevie, you got urself a winner with this one mister!
Is that Audrey Hepburn? Yes. A little morbid? Yes. This is the cover for Stevie Crooks' Diamonds & Guns. Art made by PhilMatic. Now we just wait for Diamonds & Guns to drop sometime soon before Valentine's Day :)
Stevie Crooks hasn't given us ALL of Diamonds&Guns yet, but he is giving us a taste of it. He released the track "Crooklyn" on his twitter not too long ago.
"let a little light in yo window, brighten up/ somebody new finally came and i'm nice as fuck"
