We all know it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so why not know some fun facts about those funbags that hang in your thoracic area?
1. The average breast size in America is a 36C. 15 years ago it was a 34B. [source]
2. An A-cup clocks in at only a quarter pound; a B, about half a pound; a C, three-quarters of a pound; and a D, around one pound. [source]
3. The breasts swell up and get erect when aroused--just like the penis! When erect, the average nipple is slightly taller than 5 stacked quarters. [source]
4. No two breasts are exactly the same size, and it is usually your left breast that is bigger than the right side. [source]
5. Each pair has its own point. Not only do nipples come in varying sizes, they also point in different directions.[source]
6. Men do develop breast cancer, mostly those who are between the ages of 60 and 70. Risk factors include aging, exposure to radiation, a family history of the disease, heavy alcohol intake, obesity, lack of exercise, high estrogen levels, and those who work in hot environments. [source]
7. It's legal for women to walk around showing off their breasts in Hawaii, Texas, Ohio, New York and Maine--though they can still be picked up on public nuisance laws. [source]
8. Cleavage is not determined by breast size. 2 women with same cup size may not have the same cleavage. Woman’s breasts that are fuller in the middle will have greater cleavage. Woman with only an A or B cup but with her breasts naturally set close together, can have nice cleavage too. In addition, if your body is narrow below your shoulders, you’ll have an easier time creating a deeper valley between your 2 peaks [source]
9. A girl's breasts start growing on average at age 10, and reach their complete size by age 20. [source]
10. Breast Milk is sweeter, has more vitamin E, more iron, less sodium, and more essential fatty acids than Cow's Milk. [source]
11. Men can lactate too. It's exceptionally rare, but since men possess mammary glands just like women do, they have the capacity to produce milk. When male lactation happens, it's usually because of hormonal treatments for diseases like cancer. [source]
12. Smokers will have saggier boobs than non-smokers, because the chemicals in cigarettes break down the body's elastin. [source]
